The 1st Annual Knickerbocker proved to put some fun into our long Wisconsin winter. The IceBerg Open was a bit challenging from the fresh snow fall and slush on the lake to the hazards made of recycled Christmas trees “planted” in the fairways. But that didn’t stop twenty teams from teeing off with the one club the rules allowed them to play with while hitting tennis balls across snow banks. Kirk Kussman landed a hole-in-one on the seventh hole which put his team at a score of 26 winning the tournament. Kirk’s teammates were Jeff Iverson, Paul Buscemi and Vince Guerrero
Five ice carvers chipped away at 300 lb blocks of ice creating pieces of art. Bucky Badger, a lion, a cherub, candy hearts and an antique mirror were on display along the downtown sidewalks. These carvings were sponsored by TT’s Timeout, Dutch Designs, Countryside Jewelry, Solutions and the Opera Hall Antiques.

Teeth were catching during the Snow Ball Eating contest which was hosted by Timber Creek Pizza. This contest was for both kids and adults alike but mittens were required. Rafe Shulz took first place in the 8 years and under division. Nick Hallmark, Josh Moehrke and Julia Carncross earned first in their heats in the 9 to 15 age division. And Chad Rebstock and Ron Persson tied during the 16 and older division. The snowball eating contest continued later at TT’s Timeout for another adult division which only proved kids will be kids.

Over 60 fishermen pulled out their catch of the day from Rock Lake during the fisheree sponsored by D-No’s Sports Shop. 1st Place was awarded to Greg Zander, 23” Walleye; 2nd Place Brad Sanst, 20” Walleye; 3rd place, Brad Milbrath 10 7/8” Crappie; 4th Place, Erin Crossman17” Large Mouth; and 5th Place, Jason Trumph 9 1/2 ” Perch.
